After
care options:
After care refers to the physical process of
taking care of your pets remains. There
are several different options available to you.
Burial- Some people prefer to bury
their own pets on their property. This
can be a nice option if you have small children, sometimes being involved with
the burial can help with closure.
Different cities have different regulations however, so you would need
to check with your city prior to choosing this option. Other people like to bury their pets in a
pet cemetery. There are a few pet
cemeteries available locally. Please

Many of these homes can provide a memorial service if so desired.
Private Cremation- Many people choose to have
their pet privately cremated and their ashes returned to them. We at Rainbow Bridge Vet can assist you with
this by taking your pet’s remains with us, after you have said goodbye. Our cremation company comes directly to Dr.
Ekstrom’s office to pick up remains. Once your pet has been cremated in his own
private crematorium, he will be returned either to us or directly to your
regular veterinarian, where you can pick them up when you are ready. The
process usually takes between 7-10 days, but can be rushed if needed. Your pet’s ashes will come back to you inside
a pretty urn, which is clearly labeled with both you and your pet’s name. There
is also the option to take your pet’s remains to Pet Haven (www.pethavencemetery.com) where
you can be personally involved in your pets’ cremation. This option is also available through the
Humane Society in Bellevue (www.seattlehumane.org)
Non-Private
Cremation- A
non-private cremation is when your pet is cremated, though in this case with
other pets, and those ashes are released in an orchard, which is actually
located in Monroe. If you like, we can
take your pet’s body with us once you have said goodbye, and then the cremation
company will come to our house to pick her up and transport her to the
crematorium. This option is also available through the Humane Society in
Bellevue (www.seattlehumane.org)
Paw Print Service- In addition to cremation services, we also offer a clay paw print service to all clients at no additional charge. We at Rainbow Bridge vet use ClayPaws® to create a lasting keepsake of your beloved pet's paw print. We can assist you in creating the print and will provide detailed instructions for baking the print in your oven .
